Two separate attacks in southern Pakistan have left at least 4 policemen killed and 6 civilians wounded, local media report.

Unknown militants attacked a police vehicle on Saturday and killed four policemen in Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province, local news channel Geo reported.

Meanwhile in another incident, at least 6 people were injured after a bomb hit a passenger train in Jacobabad district in southern Sindh province on Saturday morning.

Some unknown militants fixed a bomb at the railway track and exploded it with a remote controlled device as soon as the train passed by it; Three compartments of the train derailed and nearly 61 meters (200 feet) of the track was destroyed in the attack, causing disruption of railway traffic in the area, the local news channel reported.

The train was on its way from the northern city of Rawalpindi to the southwestern city of Quetta when the incident happened.

No individual or group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks; however, Pakistani officials often blame pro-Taliban militants for such attacks.

Pro-Taliban militants and some Baloch militant groups have carried out similar attacks against security forces as well as civilians in Pakistan in the past.

Pakistan is facing security challenges after it joined an alliance with the US in the so-called war on terror. Thousands of Pakistanis have lost their lives and millions have displaced in bombings and militant attacks sweeping across the country since 2001.
