A man has been killed and a woman is struggling for her life in hospital following a double shooting in London.

The deadly incident occurred on Lordship Lane, Wood Green, in the north of the city at around 17:45 p.m. local time (1645 GMT) on Friday.

Police and paramedics were called to the crime scene, but the man was pronounced dead at around 19 p.m. local time (1800 GMT) at the scene and the injured woman was taken to a hospital in east London and is reportedly in critical yet stable condition.

The identities of the victims have not been officially announced, but the male was identified locally as Erdogan Guzel, 42, originally from Turkey and father of a son and a daughter.

A local business owner who witnessed the incident told ITV News that they were shot from inside a car. “I was in the shop working and I heard the gun, like an automatic. I looked outside and I saw the car and the window open and somebody shooting,” said Haydar Alma.

No one has been arrested over the shootings yet, and Lordship Lane has been closed between Winkfield Road and Perth Road, with a police officer present at the cordoned off scene.
