Five Palestinians have been arrested after being accused of playing a role in the murder of an Israeli man in the occupied West Bank last month.

The Israeli Shin Bet internal spy service made the announcement on Wednesday.

Four of the Palestinians were arrested for allegedly assisting the other detainee, 30-year-old Mohammed Abu Shaheen, in the alleged attack that killed an Israeli man, Danny Gonen.

The June 19 incident, which took place near the Dolev settlement near the West Bank city of Ramallah, also left a second Israeli injured.

Tel Aviv says the two Israelis were hikers from the city of Lod. The suspects are all from the Qalandiya refugee camp.

In recent months, Israeli forces have intensified their crackdown on Palestinians by raiding their homes and putting them behind bars based on the administrative detention policy.

Administrative detention is a sort of imprisonment without trial or charge that allows Israel to incarcerate Palestinians for up to six months. The detention order can be renewed for indefinite periods of time.
