Iranian discus thrower Ehsan Haddadi has booked the berth for the forthcoming International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships in China following a commendable display of skills and strength.

On Tuesday, the 30-year-old Iranian sportsman had a personal best of 65.22 meters in Luxembourg to stand atop the podium and win the ticket for next month’s sporting event, the Athletics Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran reported.

The 2015 IAAF World Championships, which marks the 15th edition of the tournament, will open in the Chinese capital city of Beijing on August 22, and will finish on August 30.

The event will be the largest sporting event to take place at the Beijing National Stadium (Bird's Nest) since the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Only the lower and middle tiers of the stadium will be open, capping the venue at around 54,000 spectators rather than its capacity of 80,000. However, seats in the top tier may be made available if tickets are in high demand.

IAAF President Lamine Diack has stated that the athletics competitions in Beijing next month will be the biggest sporting event on the planet in 2015 with over 2,000 athletes from more than 200 nations competing for supremacy.

It is expected to attract more than half a million spectators during the nine days of competitions.
