The Saudi men's national volleyball team has withdrawn from the 2015 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship scheduled to open in Iran later this month.
On Saturday, the Saudi squad, without providing any reason, decided to pull out of the tournament, slated to run from July 31 to August 8, at the 12,000-seater Azadi Sport Complex in western Tehran.
The competition was originally supposed to be held with the participation of 17 teams in three pools of four teams and one pool of five.
Iran has been pitted against Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan and Kuwait in Pool A.
Australia, India, Turkmenistan and Qatar form Pool B, while Oman, Pakistan, South Korea and Thailand are drawn in Pool C. Oman moved to Pool C from Pool A to balance the number of teams in each pool.
Pool D comprises Bahrain, China, Japan as well as Sri Lanka.
