At least two people have been killed in the shelling of residential buildings in the Syrian capital of Damascus by foreign-backed militants.
Syria’s official SANA news agency said Saturday that 21 people were also injured in the attack, which targeted the houses on al-Thawrah Street in central Damascus.
Other sources put the death toll at five, adding that 36 people have also been injured in the attack.
The attack came as clashes continued between government forces and militant on the Damascus suburb of Daraya. At least five people were injured after a militant shelling of a bus which was travelling in Harasta highway earlier in the day. Nine others were injured overnight in a similar attack on al-Sumaria neighborhood on the southern outskirts of Damascus.
Cities and towns across Syria have faced bomb attacks as well as mortar and rocket fire by Takfiri terrorists since the deadly conflict broke out in the Arab country more than four years ago.
The conflict in Syria, which started in March 2011, has reportedly claimed more than 240,000 lives up until now. The United Nations has repeatedly warned about the rising civilian deaths in Syria.
The violence has also forced over 3.8 million Syrians to take refuge in neighboring countries, including Jordan and Lebanon. More than 7.2 million others have been displaced within Syria, according to the United Nations.
