The number of Americans who are satisfied with the job the Republican-controlled Congress is doing has declined, according to a new survey.
The results from a Gallup survey which was released Wednesday, show only 14 percent of US adults approve of the job Congress is doing, down slightly from 17 percent in July.
The poll indicates that 54 percent express dissatisfaction with the job performance of House Speaker John Boehner, who is currently serving his third term.
Just 23 percent view Boehner favorably; his lowest number since becoming speaker in 2011, though he had a similar share of approval (27 percent) in March. Twenty percent have no opinion of Boehner or do not know him, according to the poll.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is, however, a less known figure than Boehner.
Forty-one percent said they see McConnell in an unfavorable light, while nearly four in 10 Americans (37 percent) said they have not heard of the senator or register no opinion of him, the survey shows. Only 22 percent of Americans see him favorably.

The results show the two congressional leaders, Boehner and McConnell, are not only unpopular figures with the public at large, they are also not particularly well-received among fellow Republicans.
For both of them the mantle of power has not come with popularity.
The poll, which was conducted August 5-9, surveyed 1,011 adults via telephone across the United States.
