At least four civilians have been killed in a Saudi airstrike against a residential area in Yemen’s western province of Hudaydah.

On Tuesday, Saudi military aircraft bombarded the city of Bayt al-Faqih, located 150 kilometers (93 miles) southwest of the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, destroying a number of houses in the area, Lebanon-based Arabic-language al-Mayadeen news network reported.

The report added that the aerial raid killed four civilians and wounded six others.

Moreover, a number of people were killed and injured when Saudi warplanes targeted a popular market in the provincial capital city of Hudaydah.

Saudi jets also pounded al-Hazm district in the northern Yemeni province of al-Jawf.

Separately, Saudi military craft carried out five strikes against a military camp in the Abs district of Yemen’s northwestern province of Hajjah.

Saudi warplanes also struck Wadi al-Abu Jabarah district in the northwestern Yemeni province of Sa’ada on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Yemeni Defense Ministry says that its forces have shot down an Emirati unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) as it was conducting a surveillance operation over Mukayras in southern Yemen.

There are also reports that Yemeni army troopers backed by fighters from Popular Committees seized three Emirati military vehicles and destroyed as many others in the same town.

Yemeni soldiers and allied forces also destroyed two armored vehicles during clashes in the Khobe region of Saudi Arabia’s southwestern border province of Jizan.

Saudi Arabia launched military strikes against Yemen on March 26 – without a UN mandate – in a bid to undermine Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to the country’s fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

Over 4,300 people have been killed in the Yemeni conflict, the World Health Organization said on August 11. Local Yemeni sources, however, say the fatality figure is much higher.
