The president of Austria’s Federal of Economic Chamber says 15 cooperation agreements have been signed between Iranian and Austrian officials.
According to Christoph Leitl, the agreements are worth 80 million euros and their value can be increased fivefold.
The cooperation agreements were signed during Austrian President Heinz Fischer’s recent visit to Iran.
Expanding cooperation on tourism, education, as well as investment projects is among the issues discussed between the two sides, said the Austrian official.
“Tourism, is one of the sectors in which Austria has been actively involved. We have good expertise in developing tourism infrastructure. We are ready to enter Iran’s tourism industry,” Leitl noted.
“We are ready to cooperate with Iran in diverse areas. There is no priority for us in this regard. Iran’s government and private sector will decide about cooperation priorities indeed,” the president of Austria’s Federal of Economic Chamber added.
The president of National Bank of Austria has also come to Iran and he will hold talks with the governor of the Central Bank of Iran on Wednesday to explore avenues for promoting banking cooperation between Tehran and Vienna, he said.
“Today, the largest Austrian trade delegation is accompanying the president during the visit to Iran. This is an unprecedented event. 230 Austrian merchants have come to Iran. This is a high record,” he reiterated.

Accompanied by a 230-strong delegation of senior business executives, Fischer held talks with senior Iranian officials during his two day stay in the country.
He has already expressed the hope that his visit to Iran would bring about economic gains for both countries as relations between Vienna and Tehran thaw.
"We expect to boost our volume of trade to 300 million euros in the short term, and we then look forward to markedly increasing our economic relations," Fischer said in a joint news conference with Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.
The Iranian and Austrian governments have agreed to boost political and economic cooperation, said Fischer, the agreements would benefit both sides equally.
