A US Republican aide has announced that the House of Representatives is considering the cancellation of vote on the Iran nuclear agreement.

The unnamed official said on Wednesday that the American lawmakers are weighing to abandon a disapproval resolution for the July accord because they doubt the legislation has enough votes to even clear a procedural hurdle.

The House was set to vote on the rule for debating the measure later on Wednesday.

The measure was a procedural step that would have cleared the way for passing the resolution of disapproval later this week.

Rep. John Fleming said the procedural vote on the rule would fail if it were held Wednesday.

“If we take a vote prematurely, then we’re saying it doesn’t matter. And again, that’s another form of approval. Why do we want to approve anything here when it’s a bad deal and we don’t even know the worst part of it?” he said.

The lawmaker added that lawmakers should be allowed to review side agreements.

“Let’s say that something comes out that’s so hideous and so egregious that even Democrats wouldn’t dare go along with this deal,” he said.

“You don’t know what you don’t know. We didn’t know that the NSA was doing bulk collection of emails until we found about it.”
