Leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has denounced the American officials who negotiated the Iran nuclear agreement as "incompetent", saying the United States will get "nothing" from it.

The maverick New York billionaire, who last week broke from the Republican pack and backed the Vienna nuclear accord, on Wednesday rallied opponents of it at the US Capitol, and called the historic agreement an embarrassment to America.

“We are led by very, very stupid people,” Trump said, addressing a group of people gathered on the Capitol’s west lawn.

“We are going to get nothing,” he said of the agreement reached between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries in July.  “They rip us off, they take our money, they make us look like fools.”

Iran and the P5+1 group of countries – the US, Britain, France, Russia, China, and Germany – announced the conclusion of nuclear negotiations in the Austrian capital on July 14.

Under the agreement, Iran has been recognized by the United Nations as a nuclear power and will continue its uranium enrichment program, but some restrictions will be placed on Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the removal of sanctions.

Trump said the United States bungled the negotiations over the nuclear agreement, which is being reviewed by the US Congress.

“Never, ever in my lifetime have I seen a transaction negotiated so incompetently,” he declared.

“We will have so much winning if I get elected you’ll get bored of winning,” Trump added. “We are going to start winning big league.”

Ted Cruz rant

Another Republican presidential contender, Senator Ted Cruz, also ranted against the landmark achievement of the Obama administration.

Cruz told the crowd on Wednesday that the nuclear deal will endanger Israel, America’s close ally in the Middle East, and argued that it would increase global terrorism.

“You cannot wash your hands of that blood,” Cruz said of nuclear agreement supporters in the US Congress. “If this deal goes through, we know with absolute certainty that people will die.”

American political commentator Eric Draitser told Press TV in July that Cruz’s comments on foreign policy make him sound like a contender for America’s “greatest clown nomination.”

“Ted Cruz really has dollars signs in his eyes when he makes such a statement; Marco Rubio has dollars signs in his eyes when he makes such a statement. But none of this is to be taken seriously,” Draitser said.

President Barack Obama secured enough Senate support on Tuesday to block the vote on the Iran agreement even without issuing a veto as four more undecided Democratic senators came out in support of the deal.

The announcement by Senators Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, Ron Wyden of Oregon, Gary Peters of Michigan and Maria Cantwell of Washington brought the total number of senators who back the agreement to 42.

Analysts say Republican candidates are opposing the nuclear agreement to avoid angering the pro-Israel lobby and preventing their Democratic rivals from getting any political advantage by resolving the Iranian nuclear issue.

Clowns fight for piece of Zionist pie

Dr. Kevin Barrett

In an interview with Press TV last week, American scholar Dr. Kevin Barrett said that Republican US presidential candidates are speaking against the Iran nuclear accord to get a big piece of the Zionist pie.

He said opposition to the nuclear agreement “shows how the Republican race has become a kind of circus, and one of the side shows is this rush to the bottom as they all try to grovel even more obsequiously than the others for Zionist money.”

“Sheldon Adelson has apparently regretted that he only gave $100 million of his mafia money to the Republicans in the last presidential race... he is apparently going to pour even more money into the race this time,” Dr. Barrett said on September 3.

“And each of these clowns in the Republican Party, and they’re all clowns with a very few exceptions... they have completely lost their dignity,” the scholar stated.

“And they are essentially trying to get a piece of that, God knows if there’s going to be a billion dollars this time from Mr. Adelson as well as other big-time Zionist crime family people,” he added.
