Iran said on Wednesday that heads of certain American energy corporations may visit Tehran next month to attend a conference to introduce the new format of the Iranian oil contracts.
Rokneddin Javadi, the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), told reporters that Iran considers no restrictions for the investments of Americans in its projects.
“Cooperating with US companies [in Iran’s oil and gas projects] will be possible through the new format of Iranian contracts,” said Javadi.
He further emphasized that many major oil corporations are presently opening offices in Iran and are already taking steps to again become active in Iran’s energy projects.
Earlier, President Hassan Rouhani had told US business leaders in New York that there are no obstacles for their investments in the Iranian economy.
Rouhani, who was in the US to attend the annual UN General Assembly meeting, also called on US companies to use the opportunities that will be open to global businesses for investments in Iran once the sanctions are lifted.
Iran’s new oil-sector contracts – named Iran Petroleum Contract or the IPC – will be a modification of the traditional buy-back risk service contracts and has been specifically designed to increase the attractiveness of Iranian oil projects for foreign investors.
It offers different stages of exploration, development and production to the contractors as an integrated package.
Also, Iran will set up joint ventures with the contractors to extract reserves at the fields. The contractors will be accordingly reimbursed through a share of production from the fields.
