An Israeli settler has attacked and injured a young Palestinian man in the northern part of the occupied West Bank as tensions between Israeli military forces and settlers on the one side and Palestinian protesters on the other continue unabated.
Palestinian medical sources, requesting anonymity, said on Monday that a Palestinian youth sustained slight injuries in the arm after an Israeli settler stabbed him near Kifl Haris, located six kilometers (3.7 miles) west of the Palestinian city of Salfit, on Sunday evening.
The development came only hours after Israeli forces shot and killed a 17-year-old Palestinian girl, identified as Dania Irsheid, near the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil (Hebron), situated 30 kilometers (19 miles) south of al-Quds (Jerusalem).
An unnamed Israeli police spokesperson claimed the teenage girl was shot dead after Israeli soldiers saw “a knife in her hand.”

An eyewitness said Israeli soldiers surrounded the young Palestinian woman as she was lying on the ground bleeding. They refused to give the woman any first aid before an ambulance arrived and took her way.
Palestinian killed
On Monday, Israeli forces in the southern West Bank shot dead a Palestinian man whom they accused of having stabbed a 19-year-old Israeli man.
“The assailant stabbed the Israeli in the neck, wounding him severely. The attacker was shot on site, resulting in his death,” the Israeli army said in a statement.
Netanyahu ‘untrustworthy’
Meanwhile, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki said on Sunday that Palestinians do not trust the latest remarks by the Israeli prime minister about maintaining the status quo at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds.
Malki added that Palestinians have no faith in Benjamin Netanyahu’s Saturday night statements about not allowing Jews to perform prayers at the holy site.
Such commitments should only come from the UN Security Council, the top Palestinian diplomat stressed. He added that Netanyahu has previously made pledges to allow Palestinians of all ages into the al-Aqsa Mosque but never stood by them.

The fresh wave of tensions was triggered by the Israeli regime’s imposition in August of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina.
Palestinians are also angry at increasing violence by Israeli settlers, who frequently storm the al-Aqsa Mosque.
They say the Tel Aviv regime seeks to change the status quo of the compound.
Nearly 60 Palestinians have been killed and hundreds of others injured since the Israeli regime began a harsh crackdown on Palestinians in early October.
