Israeli forces have shot dead a Palestinian man after claiming that he had attempted to attack Israeli policemen with a knife in the occupied West Bank.
The shooting took place on Tuesday at a checkpoint near the West Bank town of Abu Dis.
According to Palestinian media, the Palestinian Health Ministry identified the young man as 16-year-old Sadeq Ziad Gharbiyeh from the town of Sanur.
Earlier in the day, another Palestinian man was killed by Israeli forces in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) over an alleged stabbing attack.
Israeli police claimed that two Palestinian teenagers, believed to be about 12 and 13 years old, attacked a guard on a train on Tuesday. They shot and seriously wounded one of the boys who was later taken to hospital for treatment. The other was arrested.
A video that emerged on a Palestinian website showed plainclothes Israeli forces wrestling a young boy, who is thought to be one of the teens, to the ground. They take off his clothes and shoes and shout at him as seen in the footage.
Also on Tuesday, 13-year-old Ahmed Manasra stood trial over a purported stabbing in mid-October in East al-Quds.

Tensions in the occupied territories have dramatically escalated in recent weeks due to the Israeli regime’s imposition of restrictions in August on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds.
Palestinians are angry at increasing violence by Israeli settlers at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound and their attacks on Palestinian properties, saying that the Tel Aviv regime seeks to change the status quo of the compound.
More than 80 Palestinians have been killed in the recent clashes. At least a dozen Israelis are said to have died.
