Students gather outside a high school in the French capital Paris following bomb scare on January 26, 2016.

Thousands of pupils have been evacuated from six schools in central part of the French capital, Paris, after anonymous calls were made claiming bombs had been hidden in the buildings.

Police and the school authority said that the schools, all in upmarket districts of Paris, received identical calls on Tuesday morning between 10:20 am (0920 GMT) and 11:20 am.

The students were moved to secure areas while police dispatched a bomb squad to remove any possible explosives from the sites.

No devices have been found so far. Security forces have just recovered only one suspicious package, which could have simply been an abandoned bag.

The developments come months after nine members of Daesh carried out attacks in and around Paris. The assaults last November claimed the lives of some 130 people and wounded 350 others. Following the attacks, a state of emergency was imposed in the country, which has led to over 2,500 police raids and hundreds of arrests.

The exceptional measures adopted under the state of emergency give French authorities extra powers to keep people in their homes without trial, search houses without judicial approval and block suspicious websites.

France also began military strikes against Daesh in Syria following the attacks. Paris has also sought alliances with other countries, including Russia, in the fight against the terrorist group.
