Press TV has conducted an interview with Norman Finkelstein, a political scientist, and Geoffrey Alderman, an author, historian and political commentator, to discuss the longstanding Israeli oppression of Palestinians.
Finkelstein says the Palestinian people have been left with no choice other than to “revolt” because diplomatic means have not succeeded in bringing an end to the Israeli occupation of their territories.
He says when an act of occupation continues, it essentially becomes an act of annexation, adding that there is no indication that the Israeli regime is willing to end the occupation.
He further says the non-Israeli population in the Palestinian territories has been denied the right to live in its homeland and their rights are routinely and continuously denied. Under such circumstances, he asks why it should be of any surprise that the Palestinian population, just like the Americans during the era of slavery, resort to revolts.
Alderman, for his part, blames the Palestinians for the stalemate in the negotiations between Israel and Palestine.
He says, “The key policy-makers in the world — America, Russia and France — have not put enough pressure on the Palestinians in order to come to the negotiating table.”
