Iran deterrence power
Iran's parliament speaker says the country will both fight its enemies and engage in negotiations in order to establish sustainable deterrence. Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf made the comment in a televised address to the Iranian nation. Qalibaf said negotiations, per se, cannot prevent the continuation of war, just as war by itself cannot prevent renewed confrontation. The top parliamentarian added that Iran's enemies attacked the country because they had erroneously thought that Iranians had been weakened, but the nation’s historic resistance proved them wrong. He said Iran will continue to fight its enemies until they become desperate and give in to the Iranian nation’s demands, accept defeat, and give concessions. Qalibaf stated that no one should dare attack Iran and whoever comes up with this stupid idea should look at the past experience and know that Iran is powerful and they cannot fight the country.
Yemen retaliatory operations
Yemen’s Armed Forces say they have targeted another Saudi warplane, which was carrying out hostile operations over the airspace of the country’s Sa’ada Province. Spokesman for the Yemeni Army, Yahya Saree said the targeted Saudi warplane was a "Typhoon" jet, which had taken off from Saudi Arabia's Ta’if airbase. Saree said the intruding aircraft was hit with a surface-to-air missile and was severely damaged. The new development came after Yemen’s Armed Forces conducted a precise attack on Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh using a ballistic missile. The airport had also been targeted earlier in the day, along with Aramco oil company’ facilities in Dhahran as well as the capital Riyadh. Saree said that operation was carried out with a large number of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones. He warned all international shipping companies, citizens, and workers in Saudi airports and companies to stay away and evacuate immediately, as they have become legitimate targets for Yemen’s Armed Forces.
US economic woes
US consumer prices have accelerated in September as the cost of gasoline surged, dealing another blow to President Donald Trump and his fellow Republicans ahead of the November midterms. According to a report by the Labor Department, increase in consumer prices can extend beyond energy carriers, raising concerns that inflation can linger longer than expected. The report came after earlier polls showed a further deterioration in consumer sentiment and a plunge in Trump's approval rating, as a result of public anger over the rising cost of living. An earlier poll showed about 78 percent of Americans now blamed Trump's policies, including tariffs and the aggression against Iran, for rising prices. It noted that the consumer price index rose 0.6 percent last month, rising by 3.7 percent on a year-on-year basis. The report added that high gasoline prices, caused by the aggression against Iran and the subsequent closure of the Hormuz Strait, accounted for more than half of the increase in inflation.
