Hamas has reaffirmed the Palestinian people's deep attachment to their land, rights and sacred sites on the 109th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, vowing to remain on the path of resistance until Israeli-occupied territories are liberated and Palestinians return to their land.

The Gaza-based resistance movement, in a statement released on Monday, underlined that the crimes and colonial tactics of the occupying Israeli regime would neither succeed in erasing the national identity of Palestinians nor abolishing their inherent historical rights.

Hamas noted that the anniversary of the 1917 Balfour Declaration, which set the stage for the occupation of Palestine, comes against a backdrop of increasing Israeli aggression and violations across the Gaza Strip, the occupied West Bank, and occupied East al-Quds.

“In the absence of international action, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip continue to face a worsening humanitarian crisis amid ongoing genocide, while displacement and settlement expansion continue to escalate in the West Bank and Jerusalem in violation of international law,” it said.

The resistance group added that “the 109th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration marks one of the greatest injustices in modern history, when the British government issued a declaration that gave what it did not own to those who had no right to it.”

Hamas highlighted that the colonial mentality continues to shape Israeli policies, citing the ongoing killings, blockade, starvation, and displacement affecting Palestinians in Gaza, along with cities, towns, and refugee camps throughout the West Bank.

The movement emphasized that “these crimes are timeless and will serve as a testament to the terrorism of the occupying regime and its advocates.”

It demanded effective international action to compel the Tel Aviv regime to cease its offenses, hold its leaders accountable as war criminals in international courts, and allow the Palestinian people to reclaim their rights.
