Iran warning

Iran’s top general warns the armed forces will counter any type and level of threat with an immediate, effective response which would not be limited geographically. Major General Ali Abdollahi reiterated a relevant directive by the Islamic Revolution Leader, saying the armed forces have updated their bank of targets to include every asset of the US-Israeli enemy. The Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian armed forces said the Iran-US confrontation has already shifted the global power structure and shattered the idea of an American security umbrella for the region. Abdollahi said Iran does not seek war but has moved from crisis management to creating a new order in the region. The top general also rejected the US idea of negotiation under threat. He said the US must end wars on all fronts, remove all anti-Iran sanctions and unfreeze Iranian assets. The general said the US must also accept Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and compensate Iran for the war damage.

'Ball is in US court'

Iran’s parliament speaker says the ball is now in the United States’ court to prevent war, as Tehran has tabled reasonable proposals on a peaceful settlement between the two sides. In an address to parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned the US against making another strategic mistake. This, he said, will force the US military to once again desperately seek a way out, as it will face a new expanded theater of war with no geographical limitation. The speaker said Iran has its hands on trigger in preparation for combat and maintains the highest level of military preparedness to defend itself. Ghalibaf also rejected Washington’s threats of military action. He said the US is a delusional enemy that has already suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of the Iranian nation.

US midterm elections

Americans are heading for polls in the midterm elections to decide which political party will control Congress. Polls have opened across east coast and they will be opening in other states gradually. All 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 of the Senate's 100 seats are being contested. The outcome will shape how much power Donald Trump will have for the rest of his term. A Democratic majority in the House would give the party the power to launch impeachment proceedings against the president. More than 50 million Americans have already cast their ballots through early voting. Economic concerns remain at the forefront for many voters. Food and fuel prices have soared mostly due to the president's aggressive tariffs and unprovoked war against Iran.
