Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei says American voters have sent President Donald Trump a clear message in the midterm elections, warning that continuing the war against Iran will bring consequences far beyond what the United States has already witnessed.

Democrats secured control of both chambers of Congress in Tuesday’s midterm elections, dealing a significant electoral blow to Trump and his Republican Party.

In a post on X, Baghaei addressed the US president, saying that “the American people have now sent you a clear message.”

“Pride comes before a fall,” Baghaei wrote, saying Trump had dragged the United States into an “unlawful and atrocious war against Iran” out of “greed and hubris” and in the service of Israel’s “deceitful regime.”

He warned that if Trump continues to “disregard reality, dismiss the lessons of history, and persist in this dangerous course,” he will face consequences that “will extend far beyond” what the United States has already experienced.

“Repeat these words until their meaning becomes impossible to ignore,” Baghaei added.

Baghaei further said Trump’s calculations had failed, with the administration’s strategic misjudgments becoming increasingly clear as it had fundamentally misunderstood Iran and underestimated the resilience, determination and national pride of the Iranian people.

“Attacking Iran does not bring victory. It only results in defeat,” he wrote, adding that Iran could not be intimidated by threats or brought to its knees through aggression.

The midterm results came amid voter frustration over the US-Israeli war on Iran and rising living costs.

The elections were widely viewed as a referendum on Trump, who personally campaigned for Republican candidates and repeatedly urged voters to act as though he himself were on the ballot.

In his message, Baghaei also referred to November 4, which falls on 13 Aban in the Iranian calendar and marks the anniversary of the 1979 takeover of the US Embassy in Tehran by Iranian students following the Islamic Revolution.

The anniversary, observed in Iran as the National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance, was marked by nationwide rallies on Wednesday, with people taking to the streets across the country.

The rallies drew school and university students, teachers, families, religious groups and other sections of Iranian society.

Participants chanted slogans against the United States and the Israeli regime, reaffirming their commitment to defending Iran’s independence and national sovereignty in the face of US-Israeli aggression.
