Students blockade high school in Paris in protest against education conditions

Students gathered in front of the Hélène Boucher high school in the 20th arrondissement of the French capital.

Students gathered in front of the Hélène Boucher high school in the 20th arrondissement of the French capital on Wednesday, in a protest movement accompanied by security measures and a deployment of police forces around the educational institution.

The move comes within the framework of a wave of student protests in France, demanding an additional 10 billion euros of investment in the education and higher education sectors, and the abolition of the "Parcoursup" platform used for university admissions.

High school and university students intend to continue their movements and join the union demonstrations scheduled for Thursday, in protest against social conditions and to demand improved wages and strengthened public services, amid declining purchasing power and rising living costs.

These movements are part of a turbulent social autumn in France, involving trade unions, student groups, and the "Yellow Vests" movement, amid disagreements with the government over wages, the minimum wage, and spending on public services.
