A senior Iranian security official says the Islamic Republic will not compromise on defending its national security and sovereignty.
Deputy Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Bagheri Kani made the remarks during a meeting with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing on Monday.
“Tehran’s position on defending its national security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity remains unchanged, and Iran will make no compromises on these matters,” he said.
Bagheri Kani also denounced as an “unforgettable” war crime the illegal US-Israeli aggression against Iran and the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, along with his family members, stressing that such atrocities must not be allowed to continue.
Highlighting the consequences of the United States’ warmongering and hegemonic ambitions, he said that war against an entire civilization cannot lead to victory and that such an approach would disrupt the global economy.
The official also said he had discussed with the top Chinese diplomat Tehran's diplomatic initiatives to end the war, and ways to strengthen lasting security in the region.

Wang, for his part, said China supports Iran in safeguarding its sovereignty and security.
He further stressed that conflicts in West Asia can be resolved through dialogue and negotiations, urging all parties to focus on political solutions rather than resorting to arms again.
Following the meeting, Bagheri Kani told the media that China supports Iran’s approach to diplomacy.
Iran and China, he added, share a common perspective on both diplomatic matters and the issue of war in the period ahead.
The US and the Israeli regime waged their first criminal war against Iran, which lasted 12 days, in June 2025. Their second aggression began on February 28 and came to a halt in early April after 40 days.
In both wars, Iran’s resistance and successful retaliatory operations forced the aggressors to accept a ceasefire.
Iran has also maintained a tight grip on the Strait of Hormuz since the early days of the second imposed war in response to Washington’s acts of mischief in West Asia.
In recent weeks, Washington has mounted its threats of renewed military assault, prompting Tehran to warn of a "geographically unrestricted response" in legitimate defense of the Iranian nation.
